Microsoft recently released the first CTP of Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 2008 (RDS). Ever since the first public announcement of Microsoft's endeavor into robotics I was inspired to get deeper into this field.
It's always been a huge interest (robotics) of mine and not only the mechanical and advanced software parts of the field, but the potential benefits and future that is inevitable. All our individual life's is today being affected by robots indirectly, but in the future we will have a direct benefit and interaction with our own creations.
Last week I meet the product group that is working in Seattle on the RDS and other technologies that goes into Microsoft's Parallel Computing platform.
With the availability of RDS 2008, Microsoft is holding a competition called RoboChamps that will launch 24th April. More details on this competition and how to compete will soon be available on the web site. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate your programming skills and creativity - and a good opportunity to learn more about robotics development.
